The Principal/Senior Principal MMIC Design Engineer supports Northrop Grumman’s Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuit (MMIC) product development. You will join a design team generating products for commercial markets using Northrop Grumman’s internal foundry capabilities.
We are looking for a circuit designer responsible for developing innovative, leading‑edge RF products using III‑V technologies. The role involves design tools such as Keysight ADS and EM simulators like Momentum and HFSS. Strong communication and presentation skills are essential.
The successful candidate will have experience with design, layout, test, and troubleshooting of RF/microwave circuits. Collaboration, readiness to take multiple roles, and the ability to work autonomously are required.
Responsibilities- Technical lead for MMIC product development.
- Design MMICs using linear and nonlinear models and 2.5D/3D electromagnetic simulators.
- Develop reference designs for Power Amplifier (PA), Low Noise Amplifier (LNA), Mixer, Multiplier, and Switch for customer sampling.
- Execute verification test analysis and present results to external customers.
- Provide technical input for product datasheets.
- Support product through critical lifecycle stages: concept/feasibility, development, qualification, and production.
- Resolve dynamic technical problems with minimal oversight.
- Bachelor of Science in a STEM discipline and 5 years of related experience; or Master of Science in a STEM discipline and 3 years; or PhD and 1 year.
- MMIC or circuit design experience.
- Experience with Keysight ADS or Cadence AWR.
- US citizenship required.
- Bachelor of Science in a STEM discipline and 8 years of related experience; or Master of Science in a STEM discipline and 6 years; or PhD and 4 years.
- MMIC or circuit design experience.
- Experience with Keysight ADS or Cadence AWR.
- US citizenship required.
- Independent product design and prototype fabrication/testing.
- Successful tape‑out experience.
- Microwave engineering background and understanding of s‑parameters and impedance matching.
- 2D and 3D electromagnetic modeling with commercial tools such as ANSYS, Momentum, Sonnet, etc.
- Debugging and validating simulations in the above tools.
- Understanding of HEMT device modeling and calibration techniques.
- Experience with SKILL or Python is a plus.
- Broadband component design.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

- Primary Level: $114,000 – $171,000
- Secondary Level: $142,200 – $213,400
