Job Title:
Controls Engineer

Join a dynamic team as a Controls Engineer specializing in the machining of brake drums, rotors, steering knuckles, and carriers for a leading automotive manufacturer. Located in Tell City, IN, this is a fully onsite position within the Kaizen Engineering department. The role involves troubleshooting and developing control programs, assisting with robot implementation, diagnosing issues, and improving manufacturing processes, especially related to CNC equipment.

The position reports directly to the Kaizen Engineering Manager and operates on a typical 1st shift schedule from Monday to Friday.

Responsibilities
  • Assist and implement PLC programs using Omron, Mitsubishi, and Allen‑Bradley systems.
  • Manage plant‑wide vision systems with Keyence.
  • Assist and lead HMI development for new production lines.
  • Lead technicians and external contractors during new line installations.
  • Collaborate with robot technicians for support, particularly on the paint line and material handling.
  • Work cross‑functionally with production engineering for new line implementations and modifications.
  • Recommend process improvements.
  • Assist in diagnosing and minor programming tasks with CNC equipment.
Essential Skills
  • Technical associate’s degree in Advanced Automation, Mechatronics, EET, or MET.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in controls engineering.
  • Proficiency in PLC troubleshooting with Allen‑Bradley, Omron, or Mitsubishi systems.
  • Experience with vision systems, specifically Keyence.
  • Knowledge of CNC, Fanuc, and robotics automation.
  • Skills in HMI programming and development.
Additional

Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (EET, MET, EE) is a plus.
  • Experience with CNC and HMI programming and development is beneficial.
Work Environment

Work in an air‑conditioned manufacturing environment with a flexible schedule typically from 6 AM to 3 PM, Monday through Friday. Some employees choose to work from 7 AM to 4 PM or 8 AM to 5 PM. Occasional overtime may be required. The position involves direct collaboration with a small team and indirect interactions with production personnel. Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $33.65 - $38.46/hr eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on the job classification and length of employment.
