Mechanical Maintenance Technician

Location: Telford

Salary: £43,853 per annum + Benefits

Contract: Permanent

Working hours: Day shift (7am
-7pm), Night shift (7pm-7am)

Pattern: 4 on / 4 off across days and nights

We are seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Technician with a mechanical engineering background to support one of the UK’s most advanced recycling plants. This is a hands‑on role where your technical skills will keep complex mechanical systems, including conveyors, bearings, motors, pumps, and structural assemblies, operating reliably and efficiently.

You will be part of an engineering team focused on maintaining plant performance, responding to breakdowns, and contributing to plant improvement and reliability projects. The role requires adaptability, high technical competence, and excellent problem‑solving abilities.

• Conduct planned and preventive maintenance (PPM and TPM) on mechanical equipment and systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical faults with speed and accuracy.
• Dismantle, repair, and reassemble machinery as needed.

• Conduct daily inspections of mechanical systems to identify wear, misalignment, and faults.
• Monitor performance and lubrication of moving components to extend asset life.

• Work closely with operators and technicians to resolve issues and reduce downtime.
• Support engineering projects, including equipment installation and modifications.

• Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with all safety regulations.
• Perform risk assessments and adhere to health & safety protocols.

• Record maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs in the CMMS.
• Provide clear and accurate reports to engineering leadership.

• A qualified engineer with a mechanical bias. (Level 3 NVQ or equivalent)
• Experience in a manufacturing, production, or process environment.
• Skilled in mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and alignment.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Knowledge of health & safety and safe systems of work.
• Familiarity with CMMS desirable.
