Maintenance Assistant

We have an opportunity for a Maintenance Assistant to join to keep the hotel looking its best as we continue our journey as custodians of a historic building from 1760.

The Maintenance Assistant will work under the direction of the Maintenance Manager and will work in partnership with the wider team to ensure the hotel is in great condition and supports making a memorable experience for our guests.

A key aspect of the role is to support the Maintenance Manager and wider management team to ensure the hotel is fully compliant with all legislation and is safe and secure for all guests and team. The successful candidate will forge a great rapport with colleagues of all levels and guests they interact with.

The role will report to the Maintenance Manager, and is an opportunity for a motivated individual who is passionate about making a difference and delivering great service in terms of maintenance and customer service.

This role is ideal for someone with strong maintenance experience, great communication and time management skills, and who can work under their own initiative.

As a Maintenance Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the hotel operates smoothly by maintaining a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for guests and staff. You will assist with routine maintenance, repairs, and inspections across the hotel, responding promptly to any issues that arise. This role is perfect for a hands‑on individual with practical skills and a proactive approach to problem‑solving.

• Previous experience in a maintenance, handyman, or facilities role, preferably in hospitality or a similar environment.
• Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, carpentry, and painting.
• Strong problem‑solving skills with a hands‑on, proactive approach.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Awareness of health and safety regulations.
