An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Quality Engineer to join a well-recognised automotive manufacturing business. This is a crucial role within the organisation, focused on driving assembly process quality, product integrity, and continuous improvement across production operations.
This position is suited to a quality professional with strong IATF 16949 experience who thrives in a fast-paced automotive environment and is passionate about improving process capability and product performance rather than purely quality assurance compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and support assembly process quality activities across manufacturing operations
Drive product-focused quality improvements, ensuring customer and regulatory requirements are consistently met
Act as the subject matter expert for IATF 16949 standards, supporting audits and maintaining compliance
Manage and resolve internal and external non-conformances using structured problem-solving methodologies (8D, 5 Whys, Root Cause Analysis)
Work closely with production, engineering, and supply chain teams to improve process capability and reduce defects
Support APQP activities, PPAP submissions, and control plan development
Analyse quality data, identify trends, and implement corrective and preventive actions
Champion continuous improvement initiatives across assembly processes
Liaise directly with automotive customers regarding quality performance and corrective actions
Key Requirements
Proven experience in a Senior Quality Engineer role within automotive manufacturing
Strong working knowledge of IATF 16949 and automotive core tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA)
Demonstrated experience within assembly/manufacturing process quality rather than purely QA-focused roles
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to drive root cause investigations to completion
Confident communicator with the ability to influence cross-functional teams
Data-driven mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
Position Requirements
10+ Years
work experience
