Job Description & How to Apply Below

Telford & Wrekin Council

We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Student Engagement Programme Learning Coordinator to join our team and play a vital role in supporting vulnerable learners who struggle to engage in mainstream education. Working across our Queensway and AFC Telford sites, you will lead a small, dedicated team to deliver high‑quality English, Maths and tailored curriculum packages designed to improve outcomes for children from Key Stage 2 to Key Stage 4.

This includes delivering 1:1 interventions, creating engaging learning environments, and supporting learners with a range of needs, including those with an EHCP and those experiencing Emotionally Based School Avoidance. You will also take responsibility for coordinating provision, monitoring pupil progress, supporting safeguarding, and contributing to the continued development of the Student Engagement Programme.

As part of the leadership team, you will help shape our offer to schools, promote our core values, and ensure we maintain high standards of teaching, learning and behaviour. We are looking for a qualified teacher with excellent numeracy and literacy skills, strong interpersonal abilities, and experience working with vulnerable young people. If you are creative, resilient, and passionate about helping learners succeed, we would love to hear from you.

We would be delighted to welcome you for a visit so you can see our supportive team in action, the wide range of work we do, and the positive outcomes our students achieve; please feel free to get in touch with us at Louis, M, or call  to arrange a time.

Please note:

We do not hold a sponsorship licence for visas.

What we offer:

  • Competitive pay
  • Flexible working & career progression
  • Local Government Pension Scheme
  • Staff discounts & salary sacrifice perks
  • Free parking & confidential wellbeing support

Roles involving children or vulnerable adults will require a criminal records check. It’s an offence to apply if you’re barred from working with these groups.

We believe great services start with great people — and that means building a workforce that reflects our community. At Telford & Wrekin Council, everyone belongs, and every voice matters.

Sorry a CV will not be accepted.
