Aspire People are currently recruiting on behalf of a friendly and inclusive primary school in Shrewsbury for a confident and adaptable Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to work across mixed year groups on a full-time basis.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced HLTA who is confident covering classes and supporting pupils across the primary age range.

The Role

As an HLTA, you will:

Provide whole-school cover across EYFS, KS1 and KS2

Deliver pre-planned lessons in the absence of the class teacher

Step into a teaching role when required, ensuring high-quality learning continues

Support pupils as a Teaching Assistant when not covering

Work across mixed year groups with flexibility and confidence

Provide targeted support for pupils with additional needs, including SEN

Assist with planning, preparation and assessment where required

This is a varied and rewarding role suited to someone who thrives on flexibility and enjoys working across different age groups.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

Holds a recognised HLTA qualification (or equivalent relevant qualification)

Has recent experience working across primary year groups

Is confident covering whole classes as a teacher when required

Is equally happy working as a TA to support learning and behaviour

Has experience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN)

Demonstrates strong classroom and behaviour management skills

Is flexible, proactive, and highly organised

Works well as part of a team and builds positive relationships with staff and pupils
