Job Title: Recreational Therapist
Location: Correctional Facility in Tehachapi, California
Employment Type: Full-Time Contract (6-9 months, with potential for extension)
Pay Range: $61.00 - $63.00 per hour

Position Overview

We are currently seeking a Recreational Therapist to provide rehabilitative services in a secure clinical setting in Tehachapi, CA. This full-time contract role offers the opportunity to positively impact patients mental and emotional well-being, with the potential to transition into a long-term state position with full benefits.

Key Responsibilities

• Communicate changes in patient condition to the Director of Recreational Therapy and the interdisciplinary treatment team
• Provide feedback on patient progress, response to therapy, and effectiveness of treatment interventions
• Conduct assessments of psychosocial, leisure, and recreational skills
• Develop and document therapy interventions based on individualized care plans
• Teach patients coping skills and stress management techniques to support balanced lifestyles
• Apply advanced counseling and therapeutic concepts to treat psychiatric, trauma-affected, and chemically dependent patients
• Facilitate group therapy using knowledge of group dynamics and processing techniques

Required Qualifications

• Experience:Minimum of 12 continuous months of direct patient care experience within the last 3 years
• Certification:Valid National or California Recreational Therapist Certificate
• BLS Certification: Current Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association
• Identification:Valid Photo , Drivers License, or Passport
