Your ImpactThe Solar Field Service Technician (Photovoltaic Repair) will conduct inspections and corrective maintenance of photovoltaic (PV) solar panel systems at local sites. Candidates must reside within 50 miles of Tehachapi, California, and will be responsible for troubleshooting, testing, and repairing solar panels, inverters, and other PV components while mentoring team members.
Core Responsibilities- Troubleshoot inverters, combiner boxes, and replace/repair string lines.
- Perform LOTO, IV curve tracing, megger/insulation testing, and IR scans.
- Operate and maintain solar power plants per established standards and procedures.
- Lead by example in compliance with safety protocols and professionalism.
- Document work orders, service orders, time logs, and emergency schedules.
- Operate and maintain a company vehicle safely, ensuring it is clean, presentable, and functional.
- Residence within ~50 miles of Tehachapi, California.
- 1–3+ years of experience on commercial and/or utility‑scale solar sites.
- Proficiency in electrical and power electronics troubleshooting and repairs.
- Knowledge of environmental and safety policies, including NFPA 70E/OSHA 10 training.
- Experience using digital multimeters, meggers, amp clamps, and related equipment for testing.
- Daily mechanical and electrical inspections of installed equipment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
Physical Requirements
- Lift and move up to 50 pounds.
- Work rotating shifts as needed.
- Operate in indoor or outdoor environments with adverse weather, including dust and pollen.
- Proceed with caution in ambient outdoor temperatures.
Hourly rate: $25.00–$40.00 (DOE). Compensation is influenced by skill set, experience level, location, and other factors. Employees may be eligible for performance and referral bonuses, production incentives, tool and fuel stipends, company vehicle, per diem, and other applicable compensation.
