Kern Community College District accepts applications for part‑time, hourly faculty pools on a continuous basis. This allows the division to contact qualified applicants immediately if a need arises without having to wait for a period of time to advertise. Applications submitted will remain active for up to two years.

• Provide instruction in a full range of Psychology courses.
• Participate in student recruitment and articulation of transfer programs for the Social Science department.
• Maintain subject‑matter currency; develop and revise curriculum; use computer and multimedia technology.
• Collegial participation in departmental, college and discipline‑specific professional activities.
• Use multiple teaching methodologies; teach at other campus sites; accommodate day, evening, or weekend classes; large classes; distance learning; and classes for incarcerated students.
• Contribute to the inmate education program at Rising Scholars.

• Master’s degree in Psychology.
• OR Bachelor's degree in Psychology AND Master’s degree in Counseling, Sociology, Statistics, Neuroscience, or Social Work.
• OR equivalent education, experience, and accomplishment as judged by the department; submit an Application for Equivalence form with supporting documents.
• Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
• Degrees and credits must be from accredited institutions (Title V Section 53406). Non‑US degrees must be evaluated by an authorized service.

• Work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues in an environment promoting innovation, teaching, learning and service to a diverse student population.
• Work effectively with students having a wide range of skills, motivations, academic and vocational goals.
• Develop curriculum, including curriculum delivered via different modalities.
• Participate in recruitment and articulation activities with local schools, colleges and universities.
• Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Maintain subject‑matter currency.
• Assess student learning outcomes.
• Knowledge of computers and willingness to explore new technologies that would benefit the program.
• Commitment to the California community college mission.
