Sign-on bonus up to $20,000.00
The Registered Nurse – ED will be responsible for delegation, supervision, and provision of evidence-based nursing care for a designated group of patients through utilization of the nursing process, ensuring age-appropriate patient care. The role implements evidence-based findings into practice, participates in research as appropriate, and is a full-time overnight position.
Licensure/Certification /Registry- Current RN license in the State of Illinois required.
- Maintains Healthcare Provider BLS certification.
- Maintains ACLS provider certification and PALS provider certification (must be completed within 12 months of hire).
- TNCC or TNS, ECRN or ENPC certifications preferred.
BSN preferred. Demonstrated competency in evidence-based nursing care, critical thinking, patient education, and interprofessional communication.
Experience- Meets credit range for Clinical Ladder levels: 12 months experience as a registered nurse is required to apply for promotion.
- Clinical Nurse I: 0–12 credits on the Clinical Ladder.
- Behavior Grid. BSN preferred.
- Clinical Nurse II: 13–24 credits on the Clinical Ladder.
- Behavior Grid with evidence of behaviors from at least two categories. BSN preferred.
- Clinical Nurse III: at least 25 credits on the Clinical Ladder.
- Behavior Grid with evidence of behaviors from at least three categories. BSN preferred.
- Attends all hospital/nurse manager specified mandatory in-services.
- Maintains competencies as identified in unit-specific requirements.
- Completes self-evaluation. Incumbent submits documentation to nurse manager at annual evaluation to validate credentialing requirements.
- Provides direct patient care, evaluates outcomes, consults with other specialists as required, and adjusts nursing care processes to ensure optimal patient care.
- Interviews patients and/or family to obtain required history and determine appropriate triage status.
- Assists physicians with multiple bedside procedures including but not limited to chest tube insertion, intubation, suturing, lumbar puncture, etc.
- Accurately cares for patients receiving forensic care, e.g., blood alcohol levels, workers compensation, rape, patient abuse.
- Provides patient teaching relative to presenting conditions.
- Completes 12-lead EKGs.
- Assures that department is survey-ready at all times.
- Communicates effectively with ED physicians and team members.
- Provides safe patient care during patient transport utilizing appropriate protocols.
- Performs other related work as required or requested.
