The Utah State Library is looking for an Administrative Service Manager to act as the Multistate Center West Director.
This dynamic leader will manage operations and staff of the Multistate Center West (MSCW), located at the Utah State Library. The library contracts with the Library of Congress, National Library Service (NLS) to operate the MSCW, which serves libraries west of the Mississippi River by providing special format reading materials, audio and braille playback equipment and other items circulated by libraries to blind and print disabled individuals.
The director is responsible for all personnel management functions, including recruitment, workload distribution, and performance evaluations. The incumbent will proactively monitor staff productivity and manage disciplinary processes to ensure alignment with organizational goals. Serving as the primary liaison to the NLS, this role ensures full contractual compliance through proactive communication. The position coordinates all logistics for incoming and outgoing orders to ensure timely and efficient processing, and maintains professional verbal and written correspondence with NLS and U.S. postal service representatives to resolve issues effectively.
Directs core inventory operations by maintaining organized storage systems and high levels of data accuracy. The job requires travel several times a year or as dictated by NLS to attend regional and national meetings as the MSCW representative.
- Manage the operations and staff of the MSCW
- Ensure that work is conducted in accordance with the NLS contract
- Oversee inventory management, maintain accurate data and statistics
- Submit all reports by the established deadline, in the proscribed format
- Demonstrate flexibility and professionalism during interactions with others
- Participate in national and regional conferences, including conducting presentations when requested.
- Experience managing staff and operations in a dynamic environment
- Organizational skills, managing the work flows and assignments performed by subordinates
- Excellent communication skills, as well as tact and diplomacy
- Knowledge of inventory management, as practiced in a warehouse environment
- Experience with warehouse management
- Work as a contributing team member, with a team based concept of work
- The ability to use a computer and Office suite for reports
- The ability to adapt to and embrace new ideas and technology
- Experience complying with all applicable agency policies and procedures, including safety, standards of conduct, and dress code
- A bachelor's degree
- A forklift certification
