Job Summary:
The PT Custodian, Day Shift - Taylorsville Campus (Mon-Thurs 8am-2:30pm; Friday 8am-1:30pm) under immediate supervision of the Custodial Coordinator is an important position to the college because all duties performed are visible and contribute greatly to the environment and overall appeal at each campus and in each building. This position knows fundamental concepts of custodial services to ensure a safe, clean, and functional environment for all campuses and sites operated by Salt Lake Community College.
This position performs standard tasks using established methods, principals, concepts, and procedures. This position will ensure that all SLCC, Facilities and Custodial required training is completed and maintained to provide the consistent, reliable, and timely facilities support to the College by the custodial services department. This position has a regular schedule but requires flexibility and must be available to work on call for snow removal and other building clean up emergencies, 24 hours a day 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
Day Shift: Mon-Thurs 8am-2:30pm;
Friday 8am-1:30pm; 29 Hours a week. FY25 starting salary $15 per hour.
- Computer and data entry skills.
- Ability to navigate the Internet.
- Ability to use a timecard system.
- Ability to use MS Office, particularly Outlook.
- Ability to complete all college required training courses.
- Ability to safely move 75 lbs.
- Ability to position oneself to perform custodial duties.
- Ability to safely use a ladder on a regular basis.
- Ability to perform equipment maintenance tasks.
- Receive and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to read and understand SDS labeling requirements.
- Knowledge of and ability to adhere to the safety requirements of OSHA and ISSA.
- Snow removal skills and ability to use snow shovels and ice melt solutions.
- Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of people with a variety of abilities and backgrounds, to maintain good working relationships across the College.
- Ability to work with all groups from a variety of academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds, and with community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities.
- Must be able to read, write and do basic arithmetic.
- No experience necessary.
- GED or equivalent.
