Position: Title IV-E Medicaid Eligibility Specialist (DCFS), Salt Lake Valley Region

Overview

Move forward in your career by applying to become a Title IV-E Medicaid Eligibility Specialist for the Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS), making initial and continuing Title IV-E and Medicaid eligibility determinations for Foster Care children in accordance with Federal, State, DHHS and DCFS policy and regulations.

This position may be eligible to work a hybrid schedule of both in-office and telework days. Please note, a position’s eligibility for hybrid work is established by agency management and is subject to change at their discretion at any time and for any reason.

The State of Utah requires all employees to physically work inside the State of Utah Boundaries.

Starting Pay: $18.77

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Collecting and reviewing client information to determine clients eligibility and options.
  • Participate in Peer Reviews and state and Federal audits.
  • Preparing and/or processing documents; reviewing for accuracy and completeness; updating information and/or evaluating against policy; comparing elements for consistency or logical relationships, etc.
  • Referring clients to other available services to meet needs where appropriate.
  • Consulting with Division staff regarding eligibility requirements when necessary.
  • Maintaining and/or creating files or record keeping systems; sorting, labeling, filing, and retrieving documents, and/or other materials.
  • Entering data into relevant databases such as EREP, MMIS and SAFE.

Preference

Preference may be given to candidates who have:

  • Professional work experience or knowledge of Title IV-E and Medicaid
  • Two or more years  experience working in government or public programs

Knowledge, skills, and abilities
  • Title IV-E
  • Reading, interpreting, and applying laws, rules, regulations, policies and/or procedures
  • Principles, theories, and practices of the Medicaid/Medicare system
  • Using State or agency-specific software application program(s)
  • Using MMIS (Medicaid Management Information System)
  • Using SAFE (i.e., State social services computer application program)
  • Foster care services
  • All DCFS job offers are contingent upon passing a Background Screening Application (BSA).
Physical Requirements
  • Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.
Working Conditions
  • Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g., safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
