Overview
Join the Insurance Financial Regulation team and obtain your Accredited Financial Examiner (AFE) and Certified Financial Examiner (CFE) designations. We are seeking individuals with financial audit or financial statement analysis experience to conduct thorough examinations and/or analyses of insurance companies to ensure compliance of financial regulations.
Principal DutiesAs an Insurance Financial Regulator you will:
- Analyze, summarize and review data; report findings, interpret results and make recommendations.
- Write or draft correspondence, reports, documents and/or other written material.
- Gather documentation to support negotiated resolution of non-compliance issues.
- Conduct financial analysis of various insurance companies to determine significant solvency risks of the insurer through analysis and examination procedures. Make recommendations for regulatory action when appropriate.
- Ensure compliance of applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations and/or agency rules, standards and guidelines, etc.
The best qualified candidate for this position will have:
- A Bachelor's Degree or higher in Accounting or Finance.
- Experience conducting financial audits or performing analysis of financial statements.
- Working knowledge of insurance industry or experience with managing multiple accounts/projects.
- The ability to understand health, life, property, and liability insurance fundamentals and accounting principles.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- The ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking and writing so others will understand.
In addition to our comprehensive benefits package and healthy work/life balance, the Insurance Department will assist the employee in this role to earn a Certified Financial Examiner or Certified Financial Analyst designation by financing the initial exam fee and providing appropriate study time (you will be expected to pass all 8 exams within 5 years of employment).
You will also have the exciting chance to work with various insurance companies. Our employees work in our office one day per week and work remotely the remaining days of the week.
The AgencyThe Insurance Department is the last word in providing insurance to residents of Utah. All insurance companies report to our Department, and we protect policyholders and the public interest through our oversight. What a wonderful feeling!
- Risks found in the typical office setting, which is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated, e.g. safe use of office equipment, avoiding trips and falls, observing fire regulations, etc.
- Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the work; however, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying light items; driving an automobile, etc. Special physical demands are not required to perform the work.
