Overview
The Department of Government Operations Finance team is hiring a Financial Analyst III to support the Division of Technology Services (DTS). The role works cross-functionally with Hosting, Network, Desktop, and Operations to plan, report, and analyze business expenses, execute strategy, assess performance, and provide insights and analytics for decision making across the Division.
Primary focus on budgets, forecasts, and financial monitoring.
Hybrid: 2 days a week required in office at 4315 S 2700 W Taylorsville, UT; remaining remote days performed in Utah.

Primary Duties- Analyzing current and past financial data and performance
- Providing financial models and forecasting
- Evaluating current capital expenditures and depreciation
- Identifying trends in financial performance and providing recommendations for improvement
- Assisting with analysis of actual results against plan and forecast and preparing analysis as required
- Coordinating with other finance team members to review financial information and forecasts
- Detailed analysis, with understanding of key drivers, to forecast cost trends
- Developing a detailed understanding of business processes, looking for both control gaps and opportunities to gain process efficiency
- Preparing reports and projections based on analysis
- Ad-hoc reporting, analysis, and special projects as required
- Providing oversight and mentorship as needed
- Detail oriented, with unquestionable integrity and credibility
- Ability to “connect the dots” for others across multiple data points, make upstream/downstream connections not easily noticeable
- Skilled in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
- Presenting creative and logical solutions to identified problems
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills, including documentation of findings and recommendations
- Drives solid understanding of cost structure/drivers by division/BU and partners with ops leadership team to drive productivity
- Demonstrates strong leadership, analytical, problem solving, and critical thinking skills
- Communicates and demonstrates judgment, tact and diplomacy in dealing with internal customers within a matrix organization
- Possesses initiative, enthusiasm, intellectual curiosity, a positive attitude and ability to perform as a team player
- Good interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills and ability to communicate with all levels of management
- Highly motivated and proactive, with strong organizational and project management skills to multitask and manage workload to timely completion
Works independently, meets deadlines
