Overview
Provide customer-focused support using clear and descriptive methods. The Department of Corrections-Utah Correctional Industries (UCI) is currently looking for a Correctional Industry Program Specialist experienced in Warehousing to join our team.
This position will start at $25.96; current employees will follow UDC/DHRM policy for promotions.
Locations- Utah State Correctional Facility - 1480 N. 8000 W., Salt Lake City, Utah
- Central Utah Correctional Facility - 255
E. 300 N. Gunnison, Utah

Essential Job Functions- Serve as specialists in a specific service, trade, manufacturing and/or marketing/sales with our warehousing team within Utah Correctional Industries.
- Knowledge and experience in general warehousing/delivery and installation, and general construction.
- Function as a first line supervisor/foreman.
- Ensuring projects and program goals are completed.
- Employees supervise inmates and may supervise staff.
- Provide training and work experience to inmates within the pre-release program.
- Ensure safety and security regulations/guidelines are followed, to include OSHA and EPA.
- Duties include instruction and training to staff and offenders who are in the pre-release program.
- Develops, directs, and/or evaluates pre-release programs.
- Schedules and assigns work to meet completion dates.
- Ensures compliance within the pre-release program.
- Direct and coordinate the activities of employees/inmates within the pre-release program.
- Inspect materials, products, or equipment.
- Maintain operations data, such as time, production, and cost records, and prepare management reports of production results.
- Observe work and monitor gauges, dials, and other indicators to ensure that operators conform to production or processing standards.
This job is NOT public safety certified, and does not require peace officer status or certification.
Qualifications and Abilities- Principles, theories, and practices of vocational training.
- Run, maneuver, navigate, or drive vehicles or mechanized equipment.
- Speak clearly, concisely and effectively; listen to, and understand, information and ideas as presented verbally.
- Communicate information and ideas clearly, and concisely, in writing; read and understand information presented in writing.
- Machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
- Be able to supervise and lead incarcerated individual work crews.
- Risks found in potentially dangerous or unusual environmental stress situations, such as working at great heights or in extreme outdoor weather conditions.
- The work requires considerable and strenuous physical exertion including frequent climbing, lifting heavy objects over 50 pounds, crouching or crawling in restricted areas, and defending oneself and/or others against physical attack.

- Salary will be based on the Career Ladder for current UDC employees and ranges reflect a minimum starting and top of range amount. Actual rate will be determined by evaluation of qualifications and the availability of monies.
