Parking Enforcement Lead Officer
This position supports SLCC and parking enforcement leadership in actively monitoring the usage of assigned parking facility(s) and interacting with faculty, staff, student visitors, and vendors. The Lead Officer patrols assigned areas, issues tickets to overtime parking violators and illegally parked vehicles, assists with vehicle boots and impounding, handles difficult situations, performs preventive maintenance on parking equipment, maintains parking meters and kiosks, oversees repairs, signage and inventories for special events, and operates computer equipment and complex software.
Responsibilities- Patrol assigned parking lots by vehicle or on foot using LPR enforcement equipment.
- Issue tickets, citations, warning signs, administer vehicle boots and impound vehicles as directed by policy.
- Resolve difficult or complex problems with parking customers and enforce parking regulations professionally.
- Maintain and repair parking meters, kiosks, and traffic speed signs; collect revenue and secure funds received through parking revenues and fees.
- Assist with preventive maintenance and repairs on parking equipment, traffic signs, and order new equipment.
- Supervise full and part time personnel, conduct shift briefings, assign and prioritize workloads, and schedule staff.
- Ensure staff follows uniform, dress code, clock‑in/out and meal/rest period policies.
- Use computer equipment, spreadsheets, handhelds, traffic speed signs, and parking apps to prepare enforcement tools and keep equipment functional.
- Coordinate with dispatching staff, other parking officers, and management to maintain close communications.
- Open and close department when necessary and perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent;
Three (3) to five (5) years of related full time experience. - Must have a valid Utah Driver’s License and be able to lift 50 lbs or more.
- Certified with the state Bureau of Criminal Investigation Agency.
- Ability to pass an extensive background check to obtain and maintain the Terminal Agency Coordinator certificate.
- Strong computer skills – spreadsheets, handhelds, traffic speed signs, pay & display kiosk, parking lot gates & parking apps.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to maintain good working relationships across a diverse academic and community college environment.
- Ability to organize, professional, sensitive to details, and make appropriate decisions in stressful situations.
- Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic background of community college students, faculty and staff, including those with disabilities.
