Buyer - Purchasing Associate

Core manufacturing units process Metals (Casting, Stamping, Forging, Welding, Machining, and Assembly), Resin (Injection Molding, Foam, and Fiber), and Electrical components (Wire Harnesses, Lighting, and assembly modules).

Responsible for sourcing materials, equipment, spare parts, supplies and services as needed to maintain effective operations. The successful candidate will be able to perform strategic procurement activities across multiple categories of spend, identifying the best suppliers for pricing and service. Perform market research, product tests evaluations and analyze competitors to determine best procurement plan.

• Coordinate with production, maintenance, quality and other departments and procure required materials for production on time
• Create and process purchase orders or scheduling agreements in MRP system
• Follow up with vendors on open purchase orders
• Maintain safety stock based on lead times and criticality
• Make sure production does not stop at any time for want of materials
• Monitor consumption rate and raise an alert in case of deviation from the standard rate of consumption
• Ensure that all deliveries satisfy the assigned purchase orders and report any back-ordered or missing products
• Research, select, and purchase quality products and materials
• Build relationships with suppliers and negotiate with them for the best pricing
• Monitor vending machines' supplies and consumption
• Identify areas and make continual improvements in inventory control and cost reduction
• Update inventory and ensure that stock levels are kept at appropriate levels
• Track and report key functional metrics (KPI) periodically as per procedures
• Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand
• Ability to work well with a team
• An understanding of automotive processes and components would be advantageous
• Work closely with accounts payable to resolve discrepancies
• Perform other works as assigned

• Associate degree or equivalent in related fields of materials, procurement, and purchasing
• Previous experience of working in a purchasing team, preferably within an automotive or manufacturing environment
• Good knowledge of purchasing, negotiation, commercial understanding, and cost breakdown
• Comprehensive understanding of MS Excel, MS Word, and industry-standard purchase order software platforms
• Familiarity with sourcing and supplier management
• Must have working experience with SAP
• Ability to gather and analyze data and to work with figures
• Must be a self-starter able to take on projects with very little direction
• Understanding of BOM structure, production routings, and material management
• Capable of multitasking
• Strong sense of time management and urgency
• Ability to manage and navigate unexpected challenges with a focus on rapidly finding solutions

• Exposure to production environment

• This role involves exposure to welding, assembly, and machine shop environment
