The Phillip Charles Group has been servicing the local Metro Detroit area for the past 30 years and has built incredibly strong partnerships with our clients, candidates and employees. We have worked with our current client for years and they are looking for an Industrial Health and Safety Manager for a Direct Hire opportunity in the Downriver MI area.
Salary Range: $70 - $100k based on experience Industrial Health and Safety Manager Responsibilities:- Ensures compliance with OSHA regulations and local laws while promoting a strong safety culture in a high-risk industrial environment.
- Creating and maintaining safety policies for scrap metal processing operations.
- Conducting site inspections, job safety analyzes, and risk assessments.
- Leading incident investigations and developing corrective action plans.
- Ensuring adherence to OSHA standards through regular audits and inspections.
- Designing and delivering safety training programs for staff and contractors.
- Encouraging employee participation in safety committees and mentoring on safety practices.
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans for various crises (fires, spills, severe weather).
- Organize drills in partnership with local emergency services.
- Work with operations and management to integrate safety into daily operations.
- Serve as an expert in industrial safety and risk management.
- Propose improvements like engineering controls and PPE to reduce risks.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in relevant field or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 3 years in safety management in industrial settings.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations.
- Experience in safety audits, investigations, and training.
- Relevant professional certifications (CSP, ASP, CHST).
- Experience in scrap metal, recycling, or demolition industries.
- OSHA 10-hour trainer certification.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred.
- Ability to work outdoors in varied weather.
- Exposure to heavy equipment, noise, and industrial hazards.
- Must navigate uneven terrain and climb as needed.
