Michigan Regional Controller

Venteon Finance is currently seeking a Regional Controller for a fast-growing, private equity backed mechanical services company based in the metro-Detroit area. This position will oversee all accounting and finance operations for the region and play a key leadership role in driving operational excellence, financial performance, and strategic growth.

Requirements of the Regional Controller

• Bachelor s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA or MBA preferred.
• Minimum 5 7 years of progressive financial leadership experience in a multi-location, growth-oriented services or contracting environment.
• Strong understanding of project accounting, cost accounting, and percentage-of-completion methods.
• Proven ability to analyze operational performance, manage budgets, and provide actionable business insights.
• Demonstrated experience supporting M&A transactions and financial integrations.
• Proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting, and ERP systems.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and collaboration skills with a hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves approach.

Responsibilities of the Regional Controller

• Oversee all accounting and finance operations for multiple business units within the Michigan region, including general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, and cost accounting.
• Lead the monthly and annual close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.
• Partner closely with the Regional Vice President and CFO to drive regional performance, profitability, and process improvement.
• Develop, implement, and monitor KPIs, dashboards, and financial models to improve decision-making and business accountability.
• Manage budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning; provide variance analysis and insights to support strategic and operational goals.
• Lead cost accounting and margin analysis processes, including quote rate development, WIP management, and percentage-of-completion reporting.
• Support M&A activity, including due diligence, integration, and opening balance sheet preparation.
• Manage treasury and risk management functions at the regional level.
• Build and mentor a strong accounting and finance team focused on continuous improvement, accountability, and scalability.
