Job Description
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
This travel opportunity in Taylor, MI offers an important role supporting students with special education needs in an elementary K-1 ASD classroom. The classroom environment is well-supported, fostering individualized learning and growth for 7-8 with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver targeted instruction aligned with the new curriculum designed specifically for elementary students with ASD.
- Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary support team including speech therapists, social workers, occupational therapists, and ASD coaches.
- Utilize specialized teaching strategies tailored to the unique needs of students in an ACT 18 ASD classroom setting.
- Manage classroom activities effectively alongside three teaching assistants to optimize student engagement and learning outcomes.
- Monitor and document student progress to inform instructional planning and individualized education plans (IEPs).
Qualifications and
Experience:
- Valid certification as a Special Education Teacher, with elementary and ASD endorsements.
- Experience working with elementary-aged children, preferably K-1 level.
- Strong knowledge of ASD instructional methodologies and best practices.
- Ability to collaborate with a diverse support team in a proactive manner.
- Flexibility to thrive in a travel teaching assignment and adapt to dynamic classroom environments.
