SummaryPerforms various cleaning functions in assigned work area following established policies and procedures necessary to maintain the hospital in a sanitary, attractive, and orderly condition. Other related duties as assigned. - Clean and sanitize patient rooms and other areas effectively.
- Utilize the ten‑step cleaning approach to deliver a clean and safe environment.
- Clean, disinfect, and aesthetically maintain shower rooms.
- Clean, disinfect, and maintain utility rooms and hampers.
- Change water after cleaning a maximum of three rooms or when water is visibly soiled.
- Maintain the housekeeping cart in a clean, neat order.
- Stock the housekeeping cart for the next shift.
- Ensure all working equipment is cleaned and polished.
- Clean and disinfect commodes; place paper band around seat after cleaning.
- Clean and disinfect IV poles properly.
- Clean and disinfect patient chairs and furniture, keeping them aesthetically clean.
- Notify supervisor of damaged furniture, soiled curtains or other areas needing attention.
- Exercise protective equipment controls when dealing with blood‑borne pathogens.
- Wear protective equipment when handling blood and bloody fluids.
- Comply with guidelines for handling and disposing of infectious waste.
- Follow proper procedure for cleaning and disinfecting contaminated areas.
- Demonstrate respect for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees.
- Recognize and respect cultural diversity for all customers (internal and external).
- Communicate effectively with internal and external customers, respecting differences in cultures, values, beliefs, and ages; utilize interpreters when needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required:
Ability to follow oral and written directions.
Education:
High school diploma or GED preferred; elementary-level required.
$18.74 – $27.33 per hour
