Dual Fuel Smart Meter Engineer; South West

We’re looking for smart meter engineers with a track record of safety and customer excellence. You’ll be representing our brands in our customers’ homes, so you’ll need to be just as happy talking to the customer and getting to know them as you are about doing the installation itself.

You’ll be fitting meters; showing customers how their meter and in-home display work; how it can help them save energy and answering any questions about the green energy revolution we are leading. As part of the Octopus Energy Services team, you’ll have the support of an office team with the same performance goals and the backing of Octopus Energy’s tech power to evolve processes and reduce admin time so you can focus on delivering great service.

What you’ll need and what we offer are detailed below.

• Fit smart meters and demonstrate how the meter and in-home display work to customers.
• Explain how the devices can help customers save energy and answer questions about Octopus Energy’s products and the renewables drive.
• Represent the company’s brands in customers’ homes and provide top-class service.
• Work with the broader team to deliver consistent, high-quality service.

• MOCoPA – held within the last 2 years and able to provide evidence
• Gas Safe – CCN1/MET1 or CMA1/MET1 (or equivalent)
• Full UK driving licence with no more than 6 points

• £36,500 starting salary
• £2,500 annual performance bonus and fit bonuses

• Rotating call-out schedule once every five weeks (Mon–Sun) with a £250 retainer; paid door-to-door when called out
• Saturday rates: £50 attendance, £70 dual fuel installation, £35 single fuel installation; technical aborts paid at half rate

• If eligible, you’ll be invited to join us at our in-person recruitment event, Octopalooza, to demonstrate your skills.
• On the day, you’ll be welcomed by the team, complete a practical trade test, and have a short interview with an Area Manager. You’ll have the chance to ask questions and learn about life as a Smart Meter Engineer with Octopus.
