CNC Recruitment are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Quality Engineer to join our clients team within a manufacturing/engineering environment. This role is responsible for ensuring products meet defined quality standards through inspection, analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Location: Taunton
Salary: £18 per hour
Contract: Temporary (3-4 months)
Hours: Monday – Thursday 8am - 5pm Friday 8am – 2pm

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct first-off inspections to verify compliance with engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Ensure products and processes comply with AS9001 and ISO
    9001 quality management standards

    .
  • Interpret and review engineering and technical drawings
    , including geometric symbols and tolerances.
  • Perform dimensional inspections using metrology and measurement equipment
    .
  • Use inspection tools including:
    • Callipers
    • Micrometres
    • Plug gauges
    • Screw plug gauges
    • Screw ring gauges
    • Gap gauges
  • Read and follow control plans to ensure correct inspection and quality processes are applied.
  • Identify non-conformities and support root cause analysis and corrective actions
    .
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records and quality documentation.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to resolve quality issues.
  • Support internal and external audits as required.
  • (Nice to have)
    Program metrology equipment where required.
Skills & Experience
  • Strong working knowledge of AS9001 and ISO
    9001
    and their practical application.
  • Proven experience in a quality role within a manufacturing or engineering environment
    .
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong focus on continuous improvement.
  • Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications
    .
  • Strong understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Practical experience using metrology equipment and inspection tools
    .
  • Experience conducting precision inspections in a similar environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    .
