Facilities Assistant (Cleaner)

Salary: £25,583 – £25,989 Hours: 37 hours per week Working Pattern: 5 days per week — 4 weekdays (10am–6pm) and 1 weekend day (7am–3pm)
Contract: Permanent Location: Taunton Weekend enhancements paid

Looking for a proactive and hands‑on Facilities Assistant to help keep our buildings and public facilities safe, clean and welcoming for residents and visitors. This is a great opportunity to join a growing organisation that makes a real difference to the town.

To carry out day‑to‑day cleaning, light maintenance and compliance tasks across premises — including public toilets, pavilions and other physical assets — supporting our commitment to community safety, cleanliness and wellbeing.

• Unlock, lock, clean and inspect public toilets and pavilions
• Carry out minor repairs and maintain accurate records of cleaning and inspections
• Ensure public toilets and surrounding areas are clean, safe and presented to a high standard
• Complete routine planned maintenance tasks, including:
  Hot and cold water temperature checks, Flushing little‑used outlets, Emergency light visual checks, Gas, water and electricity meter readings
• Identify and remove (or report) fly‑tipping and littering, escalating hazardous or large‑scale waste to relevant authorities
• Support events and activities, including setting up equipment and furniture (occasional evening/weekend work may be required)

• Able to work independently and as part of a team

• A valid full UK driving licence (Category
  
  B) with no more than six points
• Willingness to undergo a DBS check
