Staff Nurse-SDU

Are you a motivated Registered Nurse looking for a rewarding role in a fast paced surgical environment? Our Surgical Decision Unit (SDU) at Musgrove Park Hospital is seeking compassionate and proactive nurses to join our team.

This is an exciting opportunity to develop strong surgical assessment skills while delivering high quality, patient centred care. You will work as part of a supportive multidisciplinary team, caring for patients requiring rapid surgical assessment, postoperative monitoring and timely discharge planning.

We are looking for nurses with excellent communication skills, strong clinical judgement and a commitment to delivering safe, effective and compassionate care. Whether you are newly qualified or experienced, you will be fully supported with training, professional development and learning opportunities specific to the SDU.

To provide and maintain a high standard of evidence based, patient centred care. To demonstrate good interpersonal skills and to develop practical skills required within the speciality, whist reflecting the philosophy of care.

To deliver patient care on a daily basis, using the systems in place in the department for a multi-disciplinary approach to patient-centred care delivery, which builds on the philosophy of greater involvement of patients and their relatives/carers by using the Trusts patient and public involvement strategy.

Experienced Band 5 post holders will also provide effective clinical and managerial leadership of the department, in the absence of the senior members of the team, which empowers staff to deliver patient- centred, evidence based nursing care
