About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join a major public‑sector transformation programme where you’ll play a key role in reshaping how essential financial services operate across a large and complex organisation. As a Graduate Finance Analyst, you’ll be part of a team driving improvements to budgeting, reporting, and financial planning processes - work that directly supports better services and outcomes for local communities.

Alongside this, you’ll have the opportunity to work towards a CIPFA accountancy qualification
, giving you a highly respected public‑sector finance accreditation early in your career. This role is ideal for someone who wants to combine finance skills with broader business problem‑solving, stakeholder engagement, and project exposure.

What You’ll Do as a Finance Analyst

You’ll support financial operations and transformation activity through responsibilities such as:

  • Budgeting & Forecasting: Assisting with budget preparation, monitoring in-year performance and analysing financial trends
  • Financial Reporting: Producing clear, accurate and insightful financial reports for senior stakeholders
  • Data Analysis: Interpreting financial data to identify risks, opportunities and improvement areas
  • Controls & Governance: Supporting compliance, audit readiness and financial assurance activities
  • Business Partnering: Working with operational teams to understand their financial needs and ensure strong financial decision‑making
  • Project Support: Contributing to finance‑related work streams within wider organisational change programmes
