Spring 2026 Nurse Residency Cohorts (February through May cohort start dates). Advent Health Tampa Bay locations include Carrollwood, Connerton, North Pinellas, Riverview, Tampa, Wesley Chapel.

Applies knowledge and skills pertaining to all diagnoses, procedures, medications, complications, and equipment associated with unit patient population. Adheres to all pertinent regulatory standards, follows infection prevention precautions, and ensures medication safety. Communicates effectively with the interdisciplinary team. Abides by nationally recognized standards and code of ethics, participates in practice changes, process improvement initiatives, and completion of all required education. Supports quality standards and initiatives set by the department, and demonstrates a desire to learn, teach, mentor, and advance nursing skills.
Completes timely assessments including physiological, psychological, developmental, sociocultural, spiritual, and lifestyle factors, such as signs of abuse or neglect. Makes appropriate decisions and implements interventions based on nursing diagnoses. Sets measurable and achievable short and long-range goals for patients, developing and implementing individualized plans of care. Prioritizes and completes follow-up assessments, evaluating and modifying plans of care as needed. Assesses and interprets diagnostic data relative to patient age and condition, including lab results, non-invasive monitoring data, and interdisciplinary team notes.
Uses appropriate communication techniques with patients to their level of understanding. Promotes an exceptional patient experience through effective communication with patients, families, and visitors, including hourly rounding. Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to learn and apply computer-related applications and programs, including using electronic keyboards and other peripheral devices
- Organizational and multi-tasking skills
- Knowledge of nursing care methods and procedures
- Ability to work as a team player within a unit
- Effective verbal and written communication and problem-solving skills
- EKG competency testing (based on facility/unit requirement)
- BLS from American Heart Association obtained within 6 months of hire
- New RN graduate or Registered Nurse with < 1-year experience
- Previous work as a CNA, Student Nurse Tech, Triage Tech, or EMT in an acute care setting is preferred but not required
- Volunteer experience in an acute care setting is preferred
- Current BLS from American Heart Association preferred
- Working knowledge of Learning Management Systems (LMS)
- Ability to integrate organizational educational needs into an LMS using industry and evidence-based best practices
- Computer skills including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, One Note, Snagit, Visio)
- Demonstrated project management, collaboration, and customer relation skills
- Ability to work in a matrix-management environment to achieve organizational goals
- Ability to use tools to generate custom reports based on specified business requirements
- Strong leadership, initiative, and self-direction
- Knowledge of adult learning principles and education administration processes preferred
- Basic understanding of HTML and SharePoint preferred
- Familiarity with networking, IT, and computer hardware terminology preferred
- Knowledge of Project Management practices and software (MS Project or other PM tools) preferred
