Patient Counselor

Overview

St. Luke's Cataract & Laser Institute is hiring a full-time Patient Counselor at our Tarpon Springs location. This is an outstanding opportunity for a candidate who is eager to join our team in providing exceptional care to our patients in our growing practice.

The Patient Counselor is responsible for:

• Reviewing and explaining benefits and forms
• Reviewing chart notes and calculating balances for patients
• Calling patients to review deductibles and any outstanding balance or copays
• Scheduling follow-up appointments
• Collecting payments due prior to and/or on surgery day
• This position requires proven organizational skills, top-level problem solving, outstanding customer service and the ability to communicate effectively.
• Ideal candidates are comfortable working with the public and have experience in an office environment with a high level of customer service.
• Outstanding interpersonal skills including a pleasant demeanor, positive attitude, tact, diplomacy, patience, and flexibility.

• Medical office experience required; medical insurance knowledge highly preferred
• Insurance verification knowledge is preferred
• Ability to multitask and demonstrate attention to detail
• Ability to read and communicate effectively with patients, peers, supervisors and team
