Client DetailsMy client is a market‑leader in the freight & shipping industry and has offices based across the world (in Italy, Croatia, France and the UK). You will be joining a fast‑pace environment assisting in finding logistics solutions for some of the world's largest industrial, retail & FMCG based customers. My client focuses on searching air freight, sea freight & road freight solutions, which are both cost effective & time sensitive.
Job DescriptionAs a Air Freight Team Manager you will report in to the Freight Branch Manager on a daily basis. You will be responsible for the following areas for responsibility across the Tamworth office:
- Managing a small team of 12 specialist air freight forwarders across the import and export team.
- Overseeing the team responsible for preparing air and sea freight pricing & customer quotations - informing about the freight prices, port charges, cost of special documents, insurance prices as well as prices for handling the goods.
- Team management including product development, 1-2-1's, individual reviews and training.
- Conduct HR procedures such as RTW's, absence reviews, performance management.
- Organising transport through third party transit means - such as charter, courier and dedicated transport.
- Managing the team responsible for MAWB and HAWB documentation.
- Providing appropriate transportation means with adequate load capacity and regulations around ADR and dangerous goods regulations.
- Handling customs entries and arranging billings for VAT/Duties
- Ensuring, booking and conducting customs clearance.
The successful candidate will have an expansive background in either air or sea freight forwarding industry with a bias towards air freight. The ideal Air Freight Team Manager will have the following skills and experience:
- 4+ year's experience in freight forwarding in air freight
- Experience leading or managing teams within a freight forwarding or shipping environment.
- Experience of pricing, quotation and planning customer deliveries across multi-modal freight
- Desirable experience of customs compliance
- Excellent customer service experience
- Knowledge of INCOTerms is advantageous
- Commutable to wider Tamworth area.
- £45,000-£55,000
