English Teacher – Full-Time, Permanent
Location:
Tamworth (B79)
Salary: £32,433 – £42,352 per year
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled English Teacher to join a supportive secondary school catering to students aged 11–18 with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs. This is a full-time, permanent position offering the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in students’ lives.
About the School and Students:
Small class sizes – Work closely with up to 21 students, providing personalised attention and support.
Tailored learning – Deliver GCSE and Functional Skills English lessons, adapted to individual student needs.
Trauma-informed approach – Employ PACE, emotion coaching, and restorative practices to support pupils in managing emotions and achieving academic success.
Holistic development – Help students build confidence, resilience, and life skills while preparing them for adulthood.
Professional growth – Join a collaborative team with opportunities for ongoing training and career development.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver engaging English lessons in line with students’ personalised outcomes.
Support pupils in achieving GCSE and Functional Skills qualifications.
Contribute to EHCP (Education, Health, and Care Plan) reviews and meetings.
Promote positive relationships with students, parents, carers, and other professionals.
Embed social, moral, spiritual, and cultural learning opportunities within lessons.
Complete mandatory safeguarding and professional development training.
Essential Requirements:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Current DBS check
Strong communication skills
Experience working with vulnerable or SEMH students
Emotional intelligence, resilience, and adaptability
Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team
Desirable:
Recent experience teaching in a SEND or SEMH setting
Knowledge of EHCP implementation and SEND legislation
Additional SEND qualifications
