Summary:

Provide support to all maintenance personnel by performing the daily duties of inventory control within the specific Maintenance area assigned while in a leadership role. Duties relate to the function of building maintenance, maintaining a diverse maintenance parts/equipment storeroom. Focus daily on management of inventory and the related procurement processes to provide seamless service to those that maintain the physical operation of the District owned facilities.

This is a non-OTETA position.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and oversee storeroom duties in a leadership role, including planning, procuring, organizing and directing the operation of the assigned maintenance parts/equipment warehouse.
  • Perform multiple storeroom duties independently, applying multiple computer software applications and practices.
  • Maintain efficient stock levels of commonly used parts to facilitate workflow and minimize shrinkage.
  • Procure special order items as needed by creating a purchase order or using a District purchasing card.
  • Obtain and uphold advanced knowledge on related bids, bid verbiage and HCPS procurement guidelines as they pertain to the warehouse.
  • Organize, receive, store, track, determine obsolescence, and inspect maintenance repair parts/equipment for approval of use or direct returns of defective parts and equipment as needed.
  • Secure the warehouse during normal business hours and limit access to necessary personnel.
  • Monitor quantity and quality of work through audits, inspections, reports, and expenditures; institute corrective action where needed.
  • Attend required training to stay current with technology relevant to essential duties.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure efficient flow of communications and service.
  • Operate forklift, pallet jack and other warehouse equipment as required.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in procurement, shipping, receiving, store keeping, property control, or maintenance parts/equipment related skilled trades (e.g., plumbing, carpentry, electrical, irrigation, roofing or HVAC).
  • Class “E” driver’s license.
  • Read and interpret general business and professional material; write reports, correspondence, and manuals; present and respond to questions from managers and the public.
  • Basic working English language skills; ability to use Microsoft Office and various maintenance applications.

Physical Demands

  • Standing, walking, sitting, handling, keyboarding, talking, and hearing.
  • Lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Reaching with both hands; overhead work.
  • Noise level: loud; exposure to extreme temperatures and moving mechanical parts.
