Mas Tec Civil is currently hiring experienced Excavator and Dozer – Heavy Equipment Operators to join our team in Tampa, FL. A Mas Tec Civil Equipment Operator is a non‑FSLA exempt, skilled craft position that performs on heavy construction projects within a variety of duties, transferring from one task to another as the workflow dictates.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to operate heavy construction equipment commonly utilized in the heavy highway industry such as backhoes, excavators, bulldozers, and loaders, and be physically fit to perform the duties pursuant to the Safety Sensitive Position requirements.

• Demonstrate proficiency in handling, pre‑start and post‑start inspections, maneuvering, shut down, and securing procedures.
• Work various shifts in a team environment and communicate with senior management and the Fleet Department regarding maintenance and mechanical issues.
• Perform daily safety and operational inspections of equipment, report deficiencies, and perform minor repairs as needed.
• Schedule and perform regular maintenance according to equipment operations and maintenance manual.
• Understand equipment operation characteristics, controls, capacity limitations, emergency skills, and performance questions for each type of equipment.
• Ensure all safety aspects of operating equipment are observed, including safe climbing on/off mobile equipment and maintaining situational awareness of site activities.
• Assist in non‑equipment duties, load materials by hand, and lift and carry 50–80 pounds independently, up to 150 pounds with assistance.
• Place and remove TBW construction concrete barriers, load and unload trucks, and maintain level grade while spreading or recovering material.
• Understand industry terms such as graded stakes, cut and fills, and utility location requirements before excavation.
• Lead a ground man when necessary, keep employees outside the maximum reach of the equipment, and secure the machine with pins before abandoning.
• Maintain equipment shut down and key removal during washing or maintenance.

• 5–9+ years of construction experience (roads, highways, bridges) as an Excavator or Bulldozer operator.
• Required documentation evidencing competency or certifications as required by industry standards.
• High school or secondary education preferred.
