Position Description

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The paver operator is responsible for the safe and proper operation of the equipment. We require that they be committed to the total Ajax team effort by contributing to the proper completion of the work as directed by the foreman.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Note:

The following duties are descriptive and not exhaustive. The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to the position. Major duties include the following:

1. Proper operation and setup of the paver.

2. Match paving speed and material delivery to job conditions.

3. Perform daily maintenance and lubrication on paver.

4. Perform all mechanical repairs possible and communicate with shop on deficiencies.

5. Screed width-build up screed extensions to match paving width in all cases.

6. Attach and adjust screed extensions and cutoffs.

7. Proper preheating of the screed.

SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL

1. Enforce all rules listed in the Ajax employee handbook.

2. Insure all Ajax quality standards are met.

3. Insure adherence to all federal, state, local and Ajax Safety and Environmental Rules and Regulations.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS

1. Work is exposed to outdoor conditions, noise and heat

2. Ability to work days, nights and weekends as required.

ATTENDANCE AND RELIABILITY

1. Reporting to work on time, after lunch, and not leaving early unless authorized.

2. Always providing proper notification and advance notice of absence.

3. Not abusing or taking advantage of personal days off.

4. Performing such other duties as may be required.

1. Self-motivated

2. Ability to work well with subordinates, peers and supervisors

3. Ambitious

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Physical demands of the position includes:
Sitting, standing, walking, climbing, low level work, reaching, bending, trunk movements, lifting minimum of 45 lbs., carrying, pushing/pulling, dexterity of hands and fingers, seeing, hearing and talking.
