Position: Staff Geologist I / Environmental Scientist

Staff Geologist I, Richardson, TX, Tampa, FL

Halff has an immediate opening for a competent Staff Geologist I or entry level Environmental Scientist to join our established and growing team located in our Richardson, TX or Tampa, FL office. As a Staff Geologist I their role is collaborating with Staff Geologists/Environmental PMs in completing Phase I and Phase II projects; supporting aspects of complex projects; providing support, as needed, on Phase I and Phase II projects;

coordinating with clients; and supporting field efforts supporting all aspects of field and reporting. The ideal candidate would be Professional Geoscientist in training (GIT) with a Bachelor's Degree in Geology, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sciences, or a related field. What

You Will Do
  • Collaborate and provide support of field investigations, including environmental media sampling, groundwater monitoring, and site characterization.
  • Support State Departments of Environmental Protection/Commission on Environmental Quality, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), and Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) documentation and reporting.
  • Complete Phase I and Phase II projects.
  • Support field efforts for Department of Defense installations/bases.
  • Complete Phase I ESA Reports, Phase II Reports, Site‑Safety Health Plans, Quality Assurance Project Plans (QAPPs), Waste Management Plans, data summary tables/interpretation, and support completion of State required regulatory documentation.
  • Communicate with clients for property access and site data to support Phase I and Phase II.
  • Begin building relationships to become trusted advisor to clients, both internal and external.
  • Receptive to training and guidance on fieldwork, data interpretation, and reporting.
  • Willingness to participate in professional development through guidance.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in environmental remediation and compliance.
What You Will Need
  • Bachelor's in Geology, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Sciences, or a related field;
    Master's or Ph.D. is a plus.
  • No experience required; however, an internship is a plus.
  • Professional Geoscientist in training (GIT) will be obtained within the four years.
  • Ability to access federal facilities or obtain Common Access Card (CAC).
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel for fieldwork, as needed.
  • Coordinating and completing technical field investigations for multi-media environmental sampling projects.
  • Understanding of geological principles, soil mechanics, human health and ecological exposure pathways, and preferential pathways.
  • Ability to conduct geological fieldwork, including sampling techniques and logging of boreholes and test pits.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret laboratory, technical, and regulatory data accurately.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for preparing technical reports.
