Description
DRMP is seeking a full-time Senior Environmental Scientist for our Tampa Office. If you have 5-10 years of experience with Florida ecology, natural resource management, and environmental permitting; and you enjoy:
- Field investigations (wetland delineations/assessments, threatened and endangered species surveys, ecological monitoring)
- Environmental permitting
- National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documentation

Your Primary Responsibilities will include- Field investigations (wetland delineations/assessments, threatened and endangered species surveys, ecological monitoring), environmental permitting, National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documentation, and environmental monitoring/inspections.
- Prepare permit applications (e.g. environmental resource permits, Section 404 and 408 permits, local agency natural resource permits)
- Work with engineering team members to identify and resolve transportation project challenges
- Use Arc Pro software (GIS) for data collection, analysis, and compilation of data and exhibits for reports
- Assist the firm in other capacities when needed, such as public involvement activities
- The successful candidate will be part of an interdisciplinary team comprised of engineers, scientists and planners focused on existing client support and new business development.
- The preferred candidate will enjoy a variety of working conditions ranging from field efforts to office analysis; report writing; agency interactions, and the development of permit applications and mitigation plans.
- This is an excellent opportunity for a self-motivated individual with strong writing and technical skills to excel in a team environment.
- Field duties will include leading efforts in field sampling and assessment, data collection, and field equipment operation associated with environmental permitting projects.
- Office duties will include data analysis and management, report writing, preparation of permit documentation, client coordination, and marketing efforts.
- Experience working on transportation projects for FDOT and/or other roadway clients
- Experience with ESRI GIS, and GPS applications. AutoCAD or Micro Station, and statistical software
- Professional certifications, ie: FFWCC Gopher Tortoise Agent permit, PWS, CEP, CWB, PMP, etc.
- Experience working with Florida regulatory agencies including all Water Management Districts, FDEP, FFWCC, and knowledge of state regulations, including Chapter(s) 373, 379, 403 F.S., and 62-330 FAC.
- Experience working with federal regulatory agencies including USACE, USFWS, NMFS, FHWA, and knowledge of federal regulations including Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, and NEPA.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Must demonstrate an ability in collaborative problem solving with stakeholders, clients, and teammates
- Assist with field sampling and assessment
- Data Collection
- Field equipment operation (associated with environmental permitting projects)
- Participate in threatened and endangered species surveys
- Data Analysis and management
- Report writing
- Preparation of permit documentation
- NEPA documentation preparation and review
- Coordinate and communicate with internal and external project team members, clients and regulators
- B.S. Degree in Science (Environmental Science, Geology, Chemistry, Biology) or related field.
- 5-10 years professional experience in environmental science, biology, natural resource management, planning, or a related field
- A Master’s degree may be substituted for 2 years of professional experience
