Work Shift: 9:30 am – 6:00 pm, Monday - Friday. The target pay for this position is $28.65 per hour. At Antech, pay decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, education, training and budget.

The Lead Laboratory Technician oversees day-to-day activities in an animal diagnostic reference laboratory performing laboratory analyses and tests. Supervises staff, assigns work and evaluates results.

• Supervise staff, assign work and monitor activities
• Resolve escalated issues
• Administer employment actions, provide coaching and guidance to staff and promote staff training and development
• Provide input to department policies and procedures
• Lead work activities of the lab by planning and organizing work, providing adequate staffing and resources, and maintaining work on schedule to sustain ongoing customer satisfaction
• Communicate with other related departments and laboratory supervisors and managers to coordinate work and resolve issues as needed
• Contribute to the maintenance of department diagnostic equipment and other technical resources
• Coordinate with internal personnel, vendors and others as needed to resolve issues and maintain ongoing functionality
• Train on all according to Standard Operating Procedures
• Oversee the entering and releasing of results
• Oversee the building and packing of send-outs to the main lab
• Train on workflow and production goals
• Order and maintain an appropriate level of supplies
• Review Quality Control Protocols
• Provide feedback regarding staff performance to leadership
• Perform other duties as assigned

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• 2- or 4-year degree in science-related field preferred or minimum of 1-year clinical laboratory experience
• Prior leadership experience preferred

• Laboratory skills and experience
• General science background
• Attention to detail and ability to work independently
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to communicate information clearly and effectively
• Personal computer skills, strong typing ability, and knowledge of Microsoft Office

• Stationary position – must be able to remain in a stationary position for up to 2 hours
• Constantly operates a computer and other lab equipment accurately and efficiently
• Occasionally required to bend, kneel, stoop, or crouch
• May be required to lift, move, and carry up to 50 lbs
• Heavy microscopic work
• The ability to observe details at close range
• Proficiency in the English language for participation in team meetings and accurate data entry
• Extended hours may be needed
• Laboratory environments with potential biohazards mitigated by PPE
• Work under close to moderate supervision
• Potential exposure to agents known to cause zoonotic disease in humans and use of potentially hazardous chemicals as defined by the National Hazard Communication Standards
