Role OverviewVigo Importing Company, a Tampa-based, multi-generational, family business and a leader in the food importing and distribution industry since 1947, is seeking a Food Safety and Quality Assurance Manager.
Responsible for ensuring Food Safety plans are maintained; including HAACP, GMPs, supply chain verification, etc. Verifies food safety and quality processes through internal auditing, which ensures that establishment and regulatory standards are met. Reviews food safety/ quality reports and documents and confers with quality assurance, production, and management to document corrective actions. Liaison to customer and regulatory audits.
Core Responsibilitiesinclude, but are not limited to the following:
- Develops reviews and maintains food safety HACCP/HARPC plans which includes identifying food safety hazards, preventive measures and establishing corrective actions.
- Reviews and implements Quality Control Policies, Standard Operating Procedures and Good Manufacturing Procedures and provides effective guidance to employees and management.
- Reviews and verifies food safety reports, quality reports and procedures.
- Maintains a comprehensive understanding of all products manufactured by the plant as well as the raw materials, packaging materials, and operations required in the manufacturing process including quality specifications and standards
- Help Develop and Maintain ingredient and food safety records pertaining to new product development in conjunction with Product Development Manager
- Develop internally defined ingredient specifications for COA establishment, in conjunction with Product development Manager
- Manage supply chain preventive controls via supplier approval programs and quality assurance documentation per lot/shipment.
- In collaboration with the Quality Assurance Manager identifies company training needs and trains staff on topics including but limited to food safety, HACCP, allergen control, GMPs and proper food handling procedures.
- Develops and conducts internal audits which verify food safety and quality processes are in place and company and regulatory standards are met.
- Works with Office, Sales and Plant Manager to respond to customer complaints and inquiries.
- Conducts quality laboratory testing and maintains laboratory equipment and supplies.
- Maintain supplier relations in regards to ingredient management through various supplier portals.
- 5+yrs experience in Food Safety / Quality Control for food manufacturing.
- Bachelor of Science in related field.
- SQF Certified
- HACCP/PCQI Certified
