Center Administrator – Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC)

Location: Greater Tampa, FL

Salary: $100-120k base + 15% annual bonus

Reports To: Director of Clinical Operations

This position is with a PE-backed physician-led nephrology group, responsible for the day-to-day clinical and operational management of a vascular access surgery center. The Center Administrator oversees all aspects of center operations, including staffing, scheduling, inventory, compliance, and financial performance.

This role requires a balance of strategic leadership and hands-on management to ensure quality patient outcomes, strong physician and teammate engagement, and adherence to regulatory standards. This is a hands-on operational leadership position
. You’d be responsible for the day-to-day management of the center, including staff oversight, compliance, financial performance, and Joint Commission accreditation. This is not a clinic operations role, and they’re not looking for business office or behind-the-scenes experience. They need someone who has been boots-on-the-ground managing an ASC, with direct operational responsibility for the surgery center itself—including OR operations, surgical staff, P&L management, and accreditation.

Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years of direct ASC leadership experience as an Administrator, Operations Manager, or similar operational leadership role managing day-to-day facility operations.
  • Must have hands-on experience overseeing ASC operations, NOT clinic management or business office/billing roles.
  • Experience with Joint Commission accreditation preparation or maintenance strongly preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, physicians, staff, and regulatory agencies.
  • P&L management experience.
  • Local candidates strongly preferred (Houston/Texas area).
  • Nephrology or dialysis patient population experience is preferred but not required
  • Clinical background (RN, LVN, etc.) is a plus but not required given the focus on ASC operational leadership experience
Key Responsibilities Operational Leadership

  • Foster a supportive work environment focused on quality patient care and staff engagement.
  • Oversee facility growth and scaling operations from 12 to 20 patients per day as volume increases.
  • Manage operational transition as the facility expands into a larger space with multiple ORs and PACU bays.

  • Collaborate with regional and corporate leadership to manage budgets, inventory, and resource allocation.
  • Negotiate vendor relationships to optimize pricing and supply management.
  • Maintain compliance with state, federal, and accreditation requirements, including OSHA, CMS, ARRA, and The Joint Commission.

  • Serve as primary operational liaison to Medical Director and physician partners, ensuring seamless clinical-administrative collaboration.
