Overview

For nurses, Tampa General Hospital is more than just a place to work. It’s a place to grow professionally and clinically. It’s a hospital system unlike any other, where nurses who consistently provide patient‑centered, holistic care and who go above and beyond to grow their skill sets are recognized and championed. Nurses are supported with robust resources, including an injury prevention team, shared governance council, and continuing education and certification opportunities.

Most importantly, nurses at TGH are a family.

Thanks to the hard work and dedication of this family, Tampa General Hospital has achieved ANCC Magnet Recognition® for a fifth time by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Magnet® designation recognizes hospitals that demonstrate excellence in nursing philosophy and practices, adherence to national standards for improving patient care, leadership and sensitivity to cultural and ethnic diversity. TGH is among just 2 % of facilities in the country to have achieved Magnet® designation five times.

Job Summary

We are currently seeking Registered Nurses to participate in our Perioperative Transition Program (PTP) – an OR Training Program starting December 2025! The program offers novice RNs an excellent opportunity to develop intra‑operative clinical and professional skills. You will participate in both classroom and OR suite‑based training, rotating through various surgical procedures while learning both the scrub and circulating role of an O.R. RN.

TGH utilizes the Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses (AORN) Periop 101: A Core Curriculum combined with dedicated educators and preceptors to train new perioperative nurses in a structured program.

Please note: RNs selected for this training program will be asked to give a minimum 2‑year dedication to OR Nursing at TGH Davis Island Main Campus after successful completion of orientation. Trainees will be placed at either the Davis Island Main Level 1 Trauma OR, 4K Women’s Center OR, Cardiac/Vascular/Transplant OR (CVTOR), or 6K Robotic Center of Excellence OR.
