James A Haley is excited to recruit for a Registered Nurse within our Nursing Mental Health department.
DutiesThe Registered Nurse will be assigned to our Primary Care Mental Health Integration (PCMHI) program. The position reports directly to the nurse manager of outpatient mental health.
- Conduct initial comprehensive assessments of mental and behavioral health concerns for veterans referred to PCMHI.
- Provide follow-up of patient progress and treatment adherence with reassessment and communication with their mental health and primary care providers for veterans enrolled in PCMHI's anti‑depressant monitoring program. Panel size can be up to 100 Veterans.
- Deliver brief, behavioral interventions to veterans with mild to moderate mental health conditions including depression, anxiety, and stress.
- Provide Care Management services that are protocol‑driven and use validated assessment tools in Behavioral Health Lab (BHL) for data entry and tracking.
- Work closely with our large team of PCMHI psychologists and the Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) teams under administrative oversight by the RN manager.
- Demonstrate extensive oral and written communication skills: contact patients through written correspondence and telephone calls, conduct follow‑up interviews, and create and maintain forms, surveys, instruments, and materials for proper coordination of the different treatment modules available.
- Provide communication and collaboration with families and/or other concerned individuals as appropriate (given confidentiality concerns) to support the Veterans Recovery goals.
- Fully participate in Preventive Management of Disruptive Behavior requirements (Part 1 & Part
2) and respond to other areas that require PMDB‑related intervention, including therapeutic communication skills in managing care. - Apply all aspects of the nursing processes within a collaborative, interdisciplinary mental health team setting.
- May receive training in other areas of Nursing Mental Health service and support staffing needs in those areas.
- Work 20 percent as a depression case manager (DCM).
- Handle no‑show calls, process improvement projects and other duties as assigned by Nurse Manager.
- Assist with medical emergencies in the clinic as needed.
