Job Summary And Qualifications

The RN Bariatric Services Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and managing the care of patients undergoing bariatric surgery. This role serves as a liaison between patients, surgeons, multidisciplinary teams, and support services to ensure a seamless and supportive experience throughout the bariatric journey. The coordinator provides education, clinical support, and advocacy, ensuring compliance with program standards and accreditation requirements.

What You'll Do in This Role
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for bariatric patients from initial consultation through post-operative follow-up.
  • Conduct pre-operative assessments and education sessions.
  • Monitor patient progress and provide ongoing support and guidance.
  • Collaborate with surgeons, dietitians, psychologists, and other healthcare professionals to develop individualized care plans.
  • Ensure patients meet medical and psychological criteria for surgery.
  • Assist in scheduling procedures, tests, and follow-up appointments.
  • Maintain documentation and records in accordance with accreditation standards (e.g., MBSAQIP).
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and data collection.
  • Coordinate support groups and educational seminars.
  • Ensure program compliance with national standards and guidelines.
  • Assist with preparation for accreditation surveys and audits.
What Qualifications You Will Need
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • ADA Registered Dietitian, or RN (Registered Nurse), or Bachelor's Degree
  • Two to four years of scrubbing/circulating experience in bariatric surgery, or a minimum of two years' RN clinical experience in an acute care setting, or bariatric program experience, or experience working with sensitive diagnoses and procedures (preferred)
