Job Summary

The Production Planner & Scheduler establishes production schedules for multiple manufacturing sites and machines, finding innovative, cost‑effective means to improve production output by partnering with Plant Operations, Engineering, Commercial, and Sourcing.

Main Position Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement production schedules to meet customer demand with agreed service levels that optimize equipment utilization, furnace utilization, job changes, and inventory levels.
  • Monitor production needs through weekly reviews of work orders, forecasts, inventories, current shipping trends, and historic shipping performance to ensure production is scheduled appropriately to satisfy customer requirements, control inventories, and maximize utilization of company assets.
  • Identify and resolve short‑/long‑term capacity and supply gaps by utilizing and improving current tools.
  • Lead schedule conflict resolution by preparing and presenting innovative options that maintain a cost advantage and provide flawless customer service.
  • Coordinate equipment requirements as items are transferred between plants to meet production schedules.
  • Work with Logistics to optimize freight and warehouse cost.
  • Support commercialization activities and ensure flawless customer service.
  • Develop planning/scheduling standards and training plans.
  • Lead execution of supply chain projects, including creation of the project team and scope, monitoring progress, and managing stakeholders, resources, and budget.
  • Develop long‑term and short‑term supply and demand planning strategies for all manufacturing plants.
  • Provide daily and monthly reporting of operational capacity reviews based on demand forecast changes.
  • Support continuous improvement of relevant business processes.
  • Support the Sales, Inventory and Operations Planning (SIOP) process to ensure alignment of current demand with manufacturing capacity and future demand and long‑term capacity planning.
Employee Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, operations, supply chain management, mathematics, or a related field.
  • Five or more years of experience in scheduling/production planning or a similar role in supply chain and operations.
  • Supply chain/operations certification a plus (e.g., APICS CPIM).
  • Experience performing analysis, determining root cause, and initiating improvements to prevent repeat occurrences.
  • Experience in production planning, material requirements planning, inventory management, project management, or supply management processes.
  • Good cross‑functional skills; ability to work through conflicting objectives to achieve desired results.
  • Continuous improvement mindset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in PC applications such as Microsoft Office, Windows 10, Smartsheet, etc.
  • Understanding of ERP and advanced planning systems such as JD Edwards.
  • Project Management, Six Sigma, or Agile certifications a plus.
