Job Summary

The Production Supervisor oversees daily operations of food preparation and packaging within a high-volume plant-based production facility or back-of-house operation. This role ensures that all food is produced efficiently, safely, and in alignment with company quality, sustainability, and health standards. The Production Supervisor leads by example by promoting teamwork, maintaining a positive work environment, and ensuring the consistent delivery of fresh, high-quality products.

This position provides supervision to others:

  • Oversees production team members and coordinates daily workflow and assignments.
  • Participates in hiring, training, and performance feedback in collaboration with leadership.
  • Creates weekly schedules for direct reports, adjusting as needed for time off or absences.
Duties & Responsibilities
  • Supervises and leads production team members in the preparation, cooking, portioning, and packaging of food items.
  • Ensures production targets, quality standards, and food safety protocols are consistently achieved.
  • Monitors workflow and shift productivity to ensure timely and accurate output.
  • Enforces food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety regulations (e.g., Serv Safe, OSHA standards).
  • Supports training, onboarding, and cross‑training of production staff.
  • Monitors ingredient usage, reduces waste, and supports inventory control procedures.
  • Conducts quality checks on products for taste, appearance, temperature, and consistency.
  • Maintains and enforces cleanliness of production areas, equipment, and storage zones.
  • Completes daily production reports, temperature logs, and incident documentation as required.
  • Communicates clearly with leadership, kitchen staff, and cross–functional departments.
  • Troubleshoots operational or staffing issues during shifts and escalates as appropriate.
  • Ensures equipment is being used properly and safely, reporting maintenance needs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Abilities
  • Strong understanding of food preparation, batch cooking, and portion control.
  • Thorough knowledge of food safety standards and regulations.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, and coach a team in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational and time‑management skills.
  • Strong communication and problem‑solving abilities.
  • In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.
Shift Availability
  • Availability to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed.
Education & Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Serv Safe certification or equivalent preferred.
  • 2+ years of supervisory or lead experience in a food production, commissary kitchen, or high‑volume restaurant environment.
