Director of Development – Tampa, Florida
Carney, Sandoe & Associates, an educational recruitment organization partnered with Tampa Prep, an independent co‑educational school for grades 6‑12, is looking for a Director of Development in Tampa, Florida.
The Director of Development is responsible for leading the school’s fundraising, alumni relations, communications, and marketing efforts. The director ensures the success of all development functions, including identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors; capital and endowment fundraising; annual fund; auction; major gifts; planned giving; special events; and new initiatives.
Key Responsibilities- Articulate and provide an innovative and strategic philanthropic vision for the school.
- Develop clear, compelling messages to internal and external constituencies that describe the school’s strengths and aspirations.
- Devise and manage programs designed to attract maximum gift support.
- Create a strong team environment for development staff that values innovation and improvement.
- Oversee a coordinated publications and printing program to communicate effectively with various constituencies.
- Maintain research on key prospects and an action plan for solicitation.
- Serve as staff liaison to the Development Committee of the Board of Trustees.
- Supervise the Director of Marketing & Communications, Director of the Annual Fund, Director of Stewardship and Constituent Relations, Assistant Director of Stewardship and Constituent Relations, Development Assistant, and other positions in the department.
- Develop and administer the development budget.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- At least 5–7 years of development experience building the infrastructure of a development program, formulating and executing a successful fundraising plan, and strategically managing a large‑scale capital campaign.
- Proven ability to cultivate, solicit, and steward leadership gifts at all levels, including seven- and eight‑figure gifts.
