The Group Controller will be a critical leader and manager, partnering with senior leadership to build a best‑in‑class shared services organization. The role requires change‑management expertise, experience in process transformations and technology implementations such as procure‑to‑pay and inventory management systems, and superior organizational and communication skills. The Group Controller will oversee operational accounting functions—including accounts payable, revenue and inventory accounting, accounts receivable, and payroll—and implement group‑wide and GAAP accounting policies.
The role also involves leading, motivating, and developing a geographically diverse team in a fast‑paced environment.
- Full‑cycle accounting for core operational functions: accounts payable, revenue and inventory accounting, accounts receivable, and payroll.
- Month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close processes for assigned topics.
- Build relationships with accounting leaders and key finance leaders to support regional teams in delivering accurate, complete, and timely financial statements.
- Lead process transformations and implement technology such as procure‑to‑pay and inventory management systems that are automated, efficient, GAAP‑compliant, and audit‑ready.
- Ensure proper reconciliations and analyses of general ledger accounts.
- Design and maintain internal controls and documentation to manage financial risk.
- Collaborate and build strong relationships with cross‑functional corporate and regional leaders to streamline reporting processes.
- Lead a geographically diverse team.
- Support transformation by evaluating current accounting processes to achieve standardization and a continuous improvement focus on value‑added activities and technology for increased efficiency.
- Coordinate with external auditors to ensure successful engagement, providing schedules, information, and support for audit and tax preparation.
- Mentor and develop team members, fostering an environment that embraces transformation.
- 12+ years of accounting experience; public and private accounting preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting; master’s degree a plus.
- CPA license required; strong understanding of U.S. GAAP.
- Experience leading process transformations and technology implementations, such as procure‑to‑pay and inventory management systems.
- Multi‑location accounting experience required.
- Experience managing and supervising a decentralized team.
- Experience leading, organizing, and developing a team.
- Experience with Sage Intacct and accounting system implementations a plus.
- Strong communication skills, including presentation to senior leadership.
- Demonstrated ability to develop partnerships across the organization to execute plans, leveraging various teams.
