Infosys is seeking a Datacenter Operations Engineer
. This role requires close partnership and collaboration with other Engineers and Subject Matter Experts.
- Candidate must be located within commuting distance of Tampa FL or Twinsburg OH or be willing to relocate. May require travel in the US.
- Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent from an accredited institution, or three years of progressive experience in the specialty in lieu of education.
- At least 6 months of Information Technology experience.
- At least 6 months of experience with hardware and firmware support for Data Center operations.
- Authorized to work in the United States without employer-based visa sponsorship. Infosys is unable to provide immigration sponsorship for this role at this time.
- Collaborate with Technology team members to ensure efficient operation of the organization’s Data Center operations environment.
- Receive and respond to incoming calls, messages, emails, and work orders regarding Data Center operations problems.
- Ensure that work is carried out within agreed service levels and project guidelines.
- Explain and document technical issues clearly to technical teams and business stakeholders.
- Experience and desire to work in a global delivery environment.
- Good communication and analytical skills.
- Provide on‑site support on a rotating/fixed shift schedule:
- Shift 1 – 06:00–15:00 PST
- Shift 2 – 14:00–23:00 PST
- Shift 3 – 22:00–07:00 PST
- New installations of IT devices: rack and stack devices, configure ILO/IDRAC on servers and network gear, perform ping tests.
- Install trunks, patch cords, panels, and power cables to support additional capacity.
- Conduct IT audits, annual Data Center track and tape audits.
- Coordinate vendor access approval for break‑fix activity and facility repairs.
- Provide on‑call support and emergency on‑site coverage.
- Attend crisis calls for troubleshooting cables and/or hardware issues.
- Troubleshoot, isolate, and repair all cables (SM, MM, and copper).
- Participate and execute assigned change requests.
- Remove and install parts from inside IT hardware (NICs, SFPs, memory, hard drives).
- Decommission hardware and perform cabling disassembly.
- Track removal of patch cords and ensure disposal of old hardware per decommissioning process.
- Handle removable media disposal, Blancco wipe, shredding, ADR/ERI tracking.
- Coordinate hardware receiving, shipment, and storage; track using HRS and DC Tracks.
- Arrange equipment shipment and transfer to other locations.
- Process RMA of parts and track using HRS tool.
The job entails sitting as well as working at a computer for extended periods of time. The candidate should be able to communicate by telephone, email or face to face. Travel may be required as per the job requirements.
