CM seeks a Cybersecurity Subject Matter Expert (SME) to serve as both a technical authority and instructor for cyber training. The SME will utilize extensive cyber knowledge to guide protection efforts and design and deliver advanced training programs. This role is based on-site in Tampa, FL, and requires proven operational cyber experience, preferably within a military or equivalent setting.
- Design, deliver, and tailor classroom and lab-based cyber operations training to reflect current mission needs and emerging threats.
- Support the configuration, deployment, and management of cybersecurity training environments.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and content development using tools such as Nmap, Metasploit, Burp Suite, and Cobalt Strike.
- Collaborate with peers and leadership to continuously improve instructional materials and program effectiveness.
- Provide subject matter expertise and technical guidance to ensure compliance with DoD cybersecurity standards and readiness initiatives.
- Mentor and guide junior personnel, fostering analytical problem-solving and professional growth.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve technical issues, identifying root causes to minimize downtime and enhance system performance.
- Contribute to the design and iteration of cybersecurity products and prototypes, integrating user feedback and operational requirements.
- Develop and maintain cybersecurity awareness programs for teams and end users, focusing on threat detection, data protection, and best practices.
- Ensure all training systems and products meet functional, performance, and quality standards through rigorous testing and evaluation.
- 3–7 years of hands‑on cybersecurity experience (offensive, defensive, or hybrid).
- Strong understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S, VPNs), Windows/Linux systems, and network defense principles.
- Proficiency in tools such as Wireshark, Metasploit, Nessus, Nmap, and scripting (Python, Power Shell, or Bash).
- Demonstrated ability to translate technical concepts into clear instruction for diverse audiences.
- Strong aptitude for problem solving in unstructured situations at the interface of hardware, software, and networking. Ability to drive challenging and vague technical problems to clarity and resolution.
- Naturally inquisitive, able to independently research and learn new technical components or concepts.
- Ability to gather requirements from end-users. Communicate and teach complex subjects with clarity and simplicity. Able to build trust cross‑functionally, navigate customer hierarchies, and influence teams in a peer‑leadership capacity.
- U.S. Citizenship required; must be eligible for a Security Clearance.
- Ability to work on‑site in Tampa, FL.
- Cyber certifications (e.g.,
OSWP (Offensive Security Wireless Professional) or OSCP (Offensive Security Certified Professional), CompTIA Security+, CEH, or CISSP, GIAC certifications (e.g., GPEN, GSEC, or GCIH)). - Prior experience in a cyber MOS
- Prior teaching, training, or mentoring experience.
