Safety & Access Student Technician (Finance)

The Safety & Access Student Technician position is an exciting opportunity for students to gain hands‑on experience in the field of safety systems and access control. The ideal candidate is someone who is new to the University of South Florida (USF) and is eager to learn and grow in the field of operational technology. As an entry‑level technician, you will have the opportunity to work closely with experienced professionals who will provide training and guidance as you learn the programming and troubleshooting of campus safety systems.

You will also gain in‑field experience with electronics and troubleshooting issues as they arise.

Compensation and Schedule

  • Hourly Rate: $15.00
  • Hours per Week: 20
  • Work Schedule: Monday – Friday

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be a USF student
  • Must have 20 hours of availability per week
  • Must provide a class schedule

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with the maintenance and support of hardware in the field
  • Learning to program and troubleshoot life‑safety systems
  • Providing support for software programs related to safety and access control systems
  • Communicating with other departments and stakeholders to ensure the safety systems are functioning properly
  • Operating a vehicle to travel to different locations on campus

The ideal candidate will have an active Florida driver’s license, be able to accept a one‑year student employment opportunity, possess strong problem‑solving skills, and have a willingness to learn and grow in the field of operational technology.
